I found Hygge just before Lock Down and i absolutely fell in love with the whole concept. As I delved deeper into it and studied more, everything about it was ringing so true to me. I thought .. hold on.. i think i should have been Danish! haha! What are Schemas?....

Schemas are repeated patterns of behaviour. 'Schema' = the thought/context 'Scheme' = the action/behaviour They are mental representations that help us to organise and understand the world around us. Schemas are essential for brain development and clusters of schemas develop later into concepts. Each child is different, some will show lots of schemas while others may show none at all. As an Early Years Educator or parent we need to be able to recognise, understand and support schemas to help a child progress in their learning journey. Most common Schemas... Transporting - Moving objects or collections of objects from one place to another, they may use a bag, truck, basket, bucket, pram etc.. to do so. Trajectory - Creating lines in space horizontally or vertically, such as climbing, stepping up and down or lying flat. Making marks, turning pages of a book, dropping things from height etc.. Connecting - assembling objects and disassembling object...

Transporting Schema ....

Realising the Ambition: Being Me Lets take a look at the Transporting Schema ... Transporting Schema - Children enjoy repeatedly collecting things and moving resources around, from one place to another. They may carry them using their hands, baskets, bags, wheelbarrows, prams, boxes, pockets or other such containers and vessels. What might the children be learning? Children may be learning distance, routes, routines, mapping, direction, how things move or travel, body/spatial awareness or where things belong. How can i support this schematic play? Ensure you provide plentiful amounts of loose parts to transport such as pine cones, buttons, shells, bobbins, pebbles, bottle tops etc.. Provide a variety of containers and vessels such as boxes, buckets, pot and pans, bottles, jugs, baskets, bags etc.. Remember to provide resources indoors and outdoors.
